Yes, I have been told by a few club fitters before… even with forged clubs they have been reluctant to adjust more than 2 deg. But I’m 57 years old and most people I play with are as old or older and several play them with good success.

To be fair, though, the golf media has lived a daily conflict of interest with regard to reporting on OEM product offerings — trying to balance serving the interests of their readers against their own financial interests for larger advertising revenues. Not to be negative, but you asked, so here’s my opinion Negatives: Cast clubs tend to come in head shapes that have bigger cavities, lower cg, softer shafts etc etc which promote less side spin.

The short irons however, encourage a lower, more controlled flight by taylormaee the weight even higher in the club head than what is found in the mid irons. Note my sarcasm here. The primary “con” I would echo is that it is harder to work the ball with these. They maintained the same direction with the new Burner 2.
Give me a break — really! Both hit the ball like ironns champ, both can work the ball equally the same. The pros that play Ping irons now are playing a forged club. Second, forged heads are generally the smaller, blade or slight cavity designs that are low MOI.

It didn’t happen often, but once in a while I would find a hot spot and the ball would go 15 more yards then anticipated. Jose 3 years ago. I am not a “Taylormade” guy per se, and buener current irons are Callaway X18s. Forged clubs work the ball better for more advanced players.
I along with 2 other people at the golf store I worked at confirmed it during a test done by our ping rep. It’s a shot that I could not have hit before I used these irons. It has a rounded leading edge which keeps me from digging, but the angle of the sole near the heel of the club allows me to close the face or open it up to hit different shots without giving me too much bounce or putting me in a negative bounce situation.
